Keystone Adventures[]

Alexandrite was later seen in the sheds when Mr. Thompson announced the coming arrival of Bluebird Azurite and Spinel. The two new engines, along with Angel were then given the job of shunting a train for Alexandrite[2].

Personality[]

Alexandrite starts off cold, somewhat distant, intense, and sloppy. However, she often acts in a very peaceful manner[3].

Basis[]

Originally, Alexandrite was a freelance design.

However, beginning with the Keystone Chaos miniseries she was redesigned. She is now based on the L&YR Class 28, a class of 0-6-0 mixed-traffic tender locomotive designed by George Hughes for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway and built by Horwich Works between 1909 and 1912. It was a rebuild of Aspinall's Class 27, with the addition of a Belpaire firebox, a Schmidt/"twin-plug" superheater and the extension of the footplate and front sandboxes. James, Lapis, Nayruss, and Mookaite are also members of this class.

Like James, Alexandrite can been seen as an experimental member of the Class 28s; she is fitted with a front pony truck (thus making her a 2-6-0 instead of an 0-6-0), 5'6" driving wheels instead of the class' original 5'1" ones and a Fowler tender. Her front sandboxes also appear to be mounted underneath her footplate rather than joined to her leading splashers.

Livery[]

Originally, Alexandrite was painted magenta with turquoise lining. She had a turquoise bufferbeam and footplate and her two gems on her tender. She also had the letters "KR" on her cabsides in turquoise and her name on her tender in black.

Following her redesign, she was repainted lavender with light teal lining. She has a light teal bufferbeam and footplate and her two gems on her tender. She also has light teal wheels and a purple lamp on her front bufferbeam.

Following her return in Stories From Sodor:Future, Alexandrite regained her original livery, albeit without her name and lettering.
