One Saturday afternoon, Rebecca arrives at Knapford to find Jacob standing on the station platform with a look of contemplation and uncertainty on his face. She asks him if he wants to talk about it and he declines, telling her she should tend to her work. After telling Jacob she does not have another job to do for about 30 minutes, he agrees to go over to Knapford Sheds to talk about what was on his mind. He confides in Rebecca that he is beginning to doubt if teaching music is truly the right job for him, as he misses getting to work on the railway. Rebecca tells him that if teaching is not what makes him happy, then he should quit at the school year's end and once again pursue a job on the railway. Rebecca then takes Jacob back to Knapford to meet with Kira for lunch. Jacob thanks her, telling her she's given him a lot to think about.
