Crystal Island is located several miles off the coast of Sodor and can be seen from Arlesburgh Harbour. It is the home of many engines. The controller of the railway is Mr. Collins.
History[]
Stories From Sodor[]
The Crystal Island gem mines have been sending gemstones to the Sodor jewelry factories for years, unbeknownst to the engines.
The engines and freight cars, with the exception of Bismuth, were built in 2013, while Bismuth and all the brake vans were built in 2014.
Rex was the first Sodor engine to visit Crystal Island, when he did so in the second season[1].
Later James and a handful of other engines visited Crystal Island as well[2].
In the seventh season, Philip and BoCo visited the island. After Amethyst and Ruby saved BoCo from an accident with the runaway Peridot, Richard Hatt allows the Crystal Island engines to come to Sodor[3].
Stories From Sodor:Future[]
In 2027, the railway was experiencing financial difficulties. As a result, the railway was bought by Jacob and merged with the North Western Railway to become the Sudrian Crystal Railway. Mr. Collins is still in charge, however[4].

- Like both the Arlesdale and Skarloey Railways, Crystal Island got its own miniseries.
- Coincidentally, the Crystal Island Adventures miniseries was released alongside the Arlesdale Adventures miniseries following the eighth season.
- The Keystone Railway would later get its own miniseries as well.
