Biography[]

Stories From Sodor[]

Season 4[]

In Rylie's first appearance, she was seen collecting slate from Blue Mountain Quarry, alongside her brother, Ryan. Later, after Ryan's train became a runaway, she attempted to help him follow his train[1].

Sodor and the Storm[]

Rylie was one of the engines tasked with helping people get to Town Square to warn people of the impending hurricane[2].

Stories From Sodor:Future[]

Season 9[]

Rylie helped Kevin and Jordyn get back at Marie for being rude to Kevin[3].

Personality[]

Like her brother, Rylie is an affable engine, who goes out of her way to be kind and is concerned when she sees others in trouble. Rylie is direct and sincere, but she has a good sense of humour too and is not above making a joke at her own expense. Unlike Ryan, however, Rylie is not a pushover and will stand her ground if she thinks something is unfair.

Basis[]

Rylie is based on the Great Northern Railway Class N2. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley as a improvement of Henry Ivatt's Class N1, these locomotives were fitted with condensing apparatus because they were used for inter-city work in the Metropolitan areas of London, while later examples were usually seen around Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. One member of this class, No. 1744 has been preserved and operates on the North Norfolk Railway in Norfolk. In addition to being the sole survivor of its class, 1744 is also the sole surviving example of a Gresley designed tank engine.

Livery[]

Rylie is painted pink with purple lining. She also has a purple running board.

When she returned in Stories From Sodor:Future, Rylie's livery was changed slightly. She is now painted rose pink with purple lining. She now has a purple running board, coupling rods, and bufferbeams.

In Jacob, Kevin, and Friends:Past Adventures it was revealed that when she was first built, Rylie was painted purple with white and gold lining. The initials "GNR" were painted on the sides of her tanks in gold. She also has brass nameplates on the sides of her boiler.
